SGM Registration
We are having an SGM ahead of the AGM to pass resolutions about the structure of our board, if you are a member of RY, we encourage you to attend and vote on these important changes. To become a member register here!
The RainbowYOUTH Executive Board wishes to give official notice of the Special General Meeting on the 28th of May 2025 at 6:00pm. In order to attend, please register via the form on the right, and we will be in touch with the link closer to the date. The main goal of this SGM is to tweak our governance board structure to make it more effective ahead of our AGM next month.
The changes we’re proposing for our SGM are aligned with our desire to implement a stronger board structure at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). To implement the board structure at the AGM (ie: elect people to the amended roles), we must vote to approve these changes at an SGM and then register these on the Incorporated Societies Register.
The proposed changes for our SGM are being put forward by our current Co-Chair, Quack Pirihi (as linked below). The background was drafted by them to help give an overview of why we’re making the changes, how we believe it’ll strengthen governance for RainbowYOUTH, and improve our ability to serve our community.
We'd love to see as many people from our community as possible, so there are instructions below on how to register to be a member of RainbowYOUTH for any friends & whānau you'd like to apply.
If you are over the age of 27 or do not wish to become a Member, you can still attend the SGM however you won’t be able to vote.
Apply for membership:
If you are under the age of 27 and identify as a member of the Rainbow community (LGBTQIA+, MVPFAFF+, Takatāpui) register to become a member here!
We are required to give you 14 days notice of any resolutions & motions we're wanting to pass, so please keep an eye out for these in your inbox.
Please note that we are in the process of transitioning to a new membership system so be aware that if you registered a birthdate before 28 May 1998, your membership is currently not valid and you will not have voting rights at the SGM.
If you have any questions, feel free to email our Co-Chairs via quack.pirihi@ry.org.nz
