We’re Growing, Marching, and Showing Up for Our Whānau!
There’s a lot happening at our Tāmaki office! We’ve welcomed three awesome new team members (with more to come) and our Tāmaki drop-in centre is taking off! With everything going on politically, it’s more important than ever that we show up for our rainbow and takatāpui whānau. If you or anyone you know need support, reach out to us!
We’re growing! This month, we welcomed some amazing new faces to the RY whānau. Bode and Bi Kun have joined our Tāmaki crew as Support Workers, and we’re excited to have Kahn and Ruataupare stepping into our brand new Takatāpui Civics Facilitator roles. They’ll be running wānanga to help rangatahi get involved and confident about the upcoming local elections.
With the political climate being especially tough on our communities, our mahi is more important than ever. Our kaimahi stood alongside others at the hīkoi to Parliament in defence of trans healthcare showing up for our trans and takatāpui whānau and demanding access to gender-affirming care.
RY also stands in full solidarity with Green MP Benjamin Doyle, following harmful and targeted attacks this month. We’ve shared a public statement and continue to advocate fiercely for safety and dignity for all.
In brighter news, our Wellington team was buzzing at the Youth Ball with InsideOUT! Good vibes, safe spaces, and unforgettable moments with our rainbow rangatahi.
And don’t forget, our Tāmaki Drop-In Centre is open Wednesdays and Fridays. Come hang out with us!
