Our new year is off to an amazing start! January started off with Taranaki Queer Camp in full action and our services back to normal, setting us up for an exciting year ahead. February marks Auckland Pride Month, and we’re thrilled to bring back Dress With Pride, one of our most popular events of the year. Plus, we’ll be at Big Gay Out, so be sure to stop by and say hi! Taranaki Queer Camp!
Queer Camp 2025 was a massive hit with our rangatahi and kaimahi. We had a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities, like rock climbing, high ropes course and some cute indoor crafts like zine making and crotchet. It was beautiful to see new friendships blossoming, and how well everyone worked in their teams. One of the outcomes and kōrero we heard from the rangatahi was how cool it was to go to a camp and feel like they were being listened to and how we accommodated for their dietary and sensory needs, and that made it so much easier for them to have fun or engage in the activities.
Big Gay Out!
Come visit us at Big Gay Out, where we’ll have a relaxed stall designed for young people to take a breather and connect with friends. Stop by for flags, resources, and games, a perfect spot to recharge during the festivities.
We’re also excited to possibly welcome young people from Northland and Tauranga, who will be joining us to experience one of New Zealand’s largest queer events. If you would like the opportunity to attend, keep an eye out on their socials! Big Gay Out is happening on Sunday 16th February at Coyle Park.
Dress with Pride!
This year, we’re taking it to the next level with the incredible support of Auckland Pride and ASB. Dress With Pride is all about creating a supportive space for young people to get ready and gear up to march together at Auckland Pride.
Join us at the Waitākere Room in the Aotea Centre for a fun-filled day featuring free makeup and clothing, face painting, sign and badge making, kai, and so much more! The event kicks off at 10:30 AM and wraps up at 12 PM, just in time to hit the streets for the Pride March.
Taking place on the 1st of March, the Pride March is the perfect way to close out Auckland Pride Month with energy and celebration! Don’t miss out, register now HERE.
