Support Services

  • Sexuality Support

    Peer Support involves meeting one-on-one with a support worker either in person, virtually or over the phone. We provide strength-based peer support that considers hauora, resilience, cultural identities & individual journeys.

  • Trans Peer Support

    Free, fully confidential Peer Support Service for transgender, non-binary and gender diverse people who need support and/or advocacy with transitioning, identity, accessing gender affirming healthcare and social and whānau affirmation.

Drop in Centre

Our drop-in centres are open to queer, intersex, takatāpui and gender diverse young people aged 13 - 27 years old, their friends and whānau, and the communities that support our young people too. Here you can hang out, play games and access our free resources!

Our Northland drop-in centre is open on Fridays from 3PM - 5.30PM. We are located on 65 John Street, Whangārei CBD.

Our drop in centres are:

  • Gender inclusive and affirming: We might ask for your name and pronouns and all toilets are gender free

  • Zero tolerance of racism, homophobia, transphobia, intersexphobia and biphobia

  • Respectful of privacy and boundaries: Photos are taken only with your permission and personal information is only shared or publicised with your knowledge

  • Wheelchair accessible entrance and toilet

  • Unlimited wifi, computer and landline access

  • Smoke, drug and alcohol free spaces.

    They/She | Regional Coordinator

    Kia Ora koutou, ko Toni McCormick toku ingoa. You might already know me as I have been the Tai Tokerau peer support worker for the last two years. I have recently transitioned into the Regional Coordinator role and am excited to be in this new role and see how I can do more to support our community. In my free time I enjoy beach walks, collecting trinkets/rocks, and reading.

    Kia Ora! My name is Robin. I am the new transgender peer support worker for te Tai Tokerau. In my free time I enjoy gaming, going on walks to find bones and checking out the op shops around town. I grew up in Tāmaki but have now lived in Whangārei for over a year and have fell in love with the beautiful Tai Tokerau region. I am excited to be starting in this role and meet you all.
