Naming New Zealand wants to be able to fundraise to provide grants to youth for updating their identity documents. We seek to support youth who are unable to afford their new identity documents and who wish to have their identity documents updated.
Currently this grant is currently intended for youth; whose gender identity is different from their sex they were assigned at birth; and who live in the Greater Wellington region. This includes youth who identify as transgender, transsexual, takaatapui, whakawahine, fa’afafine, genderqueer, and many others.
If the future we hope to be able to extend this grant to more people, but at the moment we are a small organisation.

Please note:
These grants are currently available for youth, whose gender identity is different from their sex they were assigned at birth, and who live in the Greater Wellington region.
All of this information is kept confidential among Naming NZ management members.
There are four grant rounds every year – deadlines for submitting to the grants are February 28th, 31st May, 31st August and November 30th. It usually takes us 2 weeks after the close date to assign cases and get back to you.
We try to offer grants to as many young people as possible, but it does depend on how much funding we have. If we have lots of applicants, we will prioritise those in most need based on these answers.
