SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Qualifications and/or previous experience or understanding in youth support work and youth development

  • Awareness of the needs of gender diverse, queer and intersex communities

  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Tikanga Māori

  • Confidence and proficiency working with queer and gender-diverse young people

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Able to self-manage and show initiative in your work

  • Strong time management and self-motivation

  • Lived experience as a queer, gender diverse, takatāpui or intersex person

  • Full driver's licence

Department: Support Team
Reports to: Northern Services Team Lead

As a Regional Coordinator for RainbowYOUTH you will provide on-the-ground support and growth of peer based youth groups, connection to youth services in your area, and building a robust referral process. You are the face of RainbowYOUTH in the Tāmaki Makaurau region.

The Regional Coordinator will have an understanding of rainbow communities within the region. You will ensure requests for support are met or referred as appropriate, as well as the overall success of our peer support groups. A component of your role will be supporting the coordination, training and supervision of volunteers (such as interns and group facilitators). You will be a key point of contact for young people volunteering with RainbowYOUTH, working to build their skills and confidence.
