As the Auckland Support Manager of RainbowYOUTH, you get to lead the Auckland support service. You’ll oversee the Auckland housing service, transgender peer support service, and occasional placement students. You’ll be the key point of contact for the service funders and other stakeholders as well as manage four peer support workers and placement students intermittently.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi

  • Team leadership

  • Organisational management

  • Financial management

  • Stakeholder management

As a part of the wider RainbowYOUTH team, you may also be asked to do other tasks from time to time, by agreement.

KEY SKILLS:

  • Strong understanding and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

  • Proven experience in leading teams, setting strategic goals, and providing guidance and support.

  • An understanding of the diversity of rainbow communities, including trans communities and some knowledge of the experiences of rainbow people accessing support services.

  • Experience in engaging with Māori and multicultural communities and understanding of culturally specific social services.

  • Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems effectively.

  • Knowledge of creating and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

  • Experience in managing budgets, financial compliance, and reporting.

  • Strong skills in building and maintaining relationships with funders, partners, and stakeholders.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities within nonprofit management.

  • Ability to lead and manage projects from conception to completion.

  • Experience in representing and advocating for an organisation in various forums.

  • Excellent public speaking and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Qualifications and/or previous experience in youth support work and youth development.
