RY Services & COVID-19

We’re here and not going anywhere, but the way we connect and provide support  may change as Aotearoa adjusts it’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic with the Covid Protection Framework.

We want to reassure you that we will continue to provide the support you need as we enter the Covid Protection Framework at midnight tonight. However, the way we do this may change as we adapt to the new challenges the pandemic has brought to the way we interact with you.

From lack of autonomy and access, to barriers to accessing name & NHI changes for trans, gender diverse, non binary and intersex people,  a number of issues have come up since the implementation of vaccination passes that require more time  and creative solutions from the RY staff and Board. As a national organisation, we want to make sure that our response is flexible and meets the needs of all the regions that RainbowYOUTH is in.

Keeping that in mind, our drop in centres will be closed to the public leading up to our annual closedown from December 23rd to January 14th. We’ll be using this time to make sure that all of our services can operate in safe and equitable ways. All of RainbowYOUTH’s support services will still continue with some new measures in place to ensure we can keep our service users, volunteers and staff safe. We’ll be  posting about our social groups and how they will run over the next few days.

We’ve also been working to develop a COVID-19 service continuity plan to make sure we can keep responding to community needs and provide support and information over the coming weeks and months, particularly with the lead up to the Auckland Pride Festival in February.

Contacting RainbowYOUTH remains the same, you can call 09 376 4155 during business hours for all general enquiries, or fill out the form at www.ry.org.nz

We will post live updates and information regarding any changes to how our services will work during the Covid Protection Framework on all our social media platforms – so stay tuned!

We welcome any feedback, questions or concerns you have around this - you can send an e-mail through to feedback@ry.org.nz

Ngā mihi nui,

RY Team
