Faith & Religion

In the 2018 census, 51.4% of respondents said that they were religious in some way. With that counting for over half the population, it’s probably more common than we realise for queer, gender diverse and intersex people to be religious.

However, many queer, gender diverse and intersex people face barriers to accessing spaces of worship due to fear of not being accepted for who they are by their religious community.

Below, we share some quotes and tips from queer, gender diverse and intersex people of faith as well as some resources for those who might be struggling. It’s important to remember you are not alone and that you can be queer, gender diverse and/or intersex and still have a strong and productive relationship with your faith.
